The National Association of Home Builders recently named Traditions of America the 55+ Builder of the Year. In addition, Traditions of America took home another three Gold Awards and five Silver Awards for excellence in the nation's most prestigious active adult housing awards competition.
At a ceremony on January 19, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) named Traditions of America the "55+ Builder of the Year." Pennsylvania is moving up on the list of places to retire in the Northeast, but it’s not always for the reasons one might think. While superb geriatric medical care in Pittsburgh and state retiree tax breaks are a huge plus and a definite draw, the folks we found are interested in the lifestyle.

“Try Before You Buy” is the name one of its programs, which aims to make the decision to move easier for potential homeowners.
"The baby boom generation has been traveling their entire lives and staying in four-star hotels. They know what a spa bath looks like and they want to have it in their homes," said Timothy McCarthy, managing director of Traditions of America, a developer of active-adult housing communities in Pennsylvania.
Forget Millennials … tech trends are for the 55 and over crowd. At least that’s the philosophy Traditions of America follows—and hopes to expand on—after this year’s International Builders’ Show. The privately owned multifamily developer and builder in Pennsylvania has delivered more than 2,500 active adult homes since the company started in 1997.

Volunteers came out to Traditions at Silver Spring to help in the first of three gift-wrapping parties in Cumberland County for gifts collected by Home Instead Senior Care.
