TRADITIONS OF AMERICA - PHILADELPHIA BUILDER HONORED WITH 2007 BEST OF 50+ HOUSING AWARDS

Philadelphia, PA—(June 8, 2007)—Traditions of America, was recently honored by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), proving once again its position as a national leader in the 50+ housing industry. The NAHB awarded Traditions with three 2007 Best of 50+ Housing awards during the association's Building for Boomers & Beyond: 50+ Housing Symposium in Denver.

The NAHB 50+ Housing Council, which has promoted excellence in the 50+ housing industry for the past 15 years, presented gold and silver awards in 58 categories to current and on-the-boards projects from across the country. Design categories covered a range of product types such as active adult, aging in place, assisted living, continued-care retirement community, for-sale condominiums, rental apartments, and renovated 50+ housing.

A panel of architects, builders, designers, marketing professionals and universal design specialists judged the projects on innovative architecture, interior design, merchandising, marketing, and how effectively they responded to the housing demands of the burgeoning 50+ market.

The NAHB bestowed a Silver Award for Home Design (1,701-2,400 square feet) to Traditions of America at Willow Green-Darlington model, in Palmer Township, Northampton County, PA. A Silver Award for Home Design (up to 1,700 square feet) was presented to Traditions of America at the Highlands of Glenmoor-Sussex model, located in Easton, Northampton County, PA. The Highlands of Glenmoor was also recognized with a Gold Award for Model Home Merchandising (up to 1,700 square feet).

Awards are nothing new for the Philadelphia-based builder. Thanks to the passion for excellence of principals J.B. Reilly and Timothy R. McCarthy, Traditions of America has carved out its spot as a leader in the active adult real estate industry, winning countless national and regional awards.

Meeting the needs of active adults is what Traditions of America is all about. “We are not a traditional builder. We are truly a special developer of lifestyle communities,” said Traditions principal Timothy R. McCarthy.

In 1985, the pair’s first development company focused on a wide range of real estate development. With that success under their belts, McCarthy and Reilly turned to look at the active adult market and didn’t see anyone responding to the needs of the 50+ community, who were transitioning out of their homes and into another phase of their lives. The partners formed Traditions of America in 1997, combining their talents with world-class planners, renowned architects and engineering consultants to create cutting-edge communities and homes.

The Highlands of Glenmoor - Sussex model’s flexible floor plan can accommodate several different lifestyles as homeowners age in place. At 1,521 square feet, active adults can use a second bedroom as an office or study, guest bedroom or a caregiver’s suite. The open floor plan is also ideal for entertaining and large family gatherings.

The Darlington model at Willow Green features a great room flowing into a large kitchen with island and breakfast nook. One of 11 different Willow Green home plans, the Darlington features spacious one-story designs, as well as an optional second story, loft and basement.  Standard features include designer kitchens with rich cabinetry, elegant tray ceilings, magnificent master bedroom and bathroom suites, ceramic tile foyers, and oversized two-car garages.

In addition to its award-winning home designs, Traditions of America is also known for its long list of amenities and vacation-every-day lifestyle, including a state-of-the-art clubhouse with an outdoor heated pool, putting green, tennis court, sauna, whirlpool and exercise rooms along with a theatre/media room, and a grand ballroom for social gatherings.

With Traditions of America’s Custom Home Program, homebuyers can truly create the home of their dreams. Ultimately, customer satisfaction and offering homebuyers a lifestyle worth living is Traditions of America’s greatest reward.

Traditions of America lives and breathes its unique mission as a special developer of lifestyle communities, designing and building beautiful homes, free from maintenance burdens and loaded with custom features.
