For a number of years, Bob and Sally Houser lived on Neville Island on the Ohio River and enjoyed their yard, dock and boat. The couple had completely remodeled their house, and were busy being fulltime homeowners.

A few years ago, they began to question whether they wanted to spend time tending flowers and mowing grass in the spring and summer and shoveling and blowing snow in the winter. The Housers, now married eight years, started to look at retirement communities. “We fell in love with Traditions of America at Liberty Hills the first time we saw it last year,” said Sally Houser. “We loved the location, the property, the amenities and the clubhouse. But I wasn’t ready to move.” But the more the Housers stared at their snow shovels and leaf rakes, the better carefree living at Liberty Hills looked. The couple took advantage of Traditions of America’s HomeFree program. The risk-free purchase agreement helps buyers sell their existing home. If it doesn’t sell, they don’t have to buy the new home. “That gave us peace of mind,” said Sally. “You have to be ready to sell your house. There was no pressure to buy at Traditions of America.”

The Housers moved into their two bedroom, single-level garden home just outside of Pittsburgh in May and “couldn’t be happier.” They like the spacious floor plan and openness. The couple made a few changes, including enlarging their patio. A second floor storage area was also converted into a spare bedroom complete with television and carpeting for grandchildren who wish to stay overnight.
“It’s quality construction,” said Bob Houser, who also likes his two-car garage. “Whenever you live in a multi-unit type of living space, it’s always possible you can hear the next door neighbors. But here it’s well-built and soundproof.”

Liberty Hills, a 55-and-over community, offers single-family homes from $244,900 and garden homes from $216,900. The Housers say visitors to their new home “can’t believe” the amazing resort style lifestyle. A stunning clubhouse, well-appointed fitness center, full-time activities director and pristine pool, have helped the community win its many awards. Bob said although he formerly lived on an island, he has never been as tan as he became this summer enjoying the pool. “Lots of good vitamin D from the sun,” said Bob, who also gave thumbs up to the community’s Margarita Mondays and frequent wine and cheese parties. David O. Biddison, Director of Operations for Traditions of America, said Liberty Hills continues to be the most successful community in western Pennsylvania. "This year, the builder is averaging an impressive five home sales a month."

“Residents at Liberty Hills enjoy the resort-style amenities to live better year round,” said Biddison. Prospective buyers can tour six fully decorated model homes at Liberty Hills seven days a week. But the Housers’ home has become an “unofficial” model home for potential Liberty Hills buyers because the couple loves explaining their new lifestyle and showing off their living quarters.
